Draupadi – A Powerful Theatrical Presentation

On Sunday, at the Omaya Garden Auditorium stage, the timeless heroine of the Mahabharata, Draupadi, came alive before the audience with her full intensity, pain, fire, and self-respect. Renowned artist Anjana Chandak portrayed the multifaceted character of Draupadi in this solo theatrical performance through a contemporary perspective and mindset.

The presentation depicted Draupadi as a woman who does not remain silent in the face of injustice, humiliation, and the rigid norms of her era, boldly questioning the assembly: Who is the owner of my dignity, my existence, my rights? The depth of Anjana Chandak’s performance brought Draupadi’s compassion, anger, and resurgence to life so vividly that the audience was left spellbound and eventually rose to give a standing ovation.
