Give Teenagers the Opportunity to Express Their Emotions Freely: Dr. Ela Gupta

Under the aegis of the Prevention Committee of Rotary District 3261, a special Mental Health and Awareness Seminar for parents and teachers was organized at the MBA Seminar Hall of Gyan Ganga College, Jabalpur.

The keynote speaker, Central India’s renowned counselor and senior psychologist Dr. Ela Gupta, stated that adolescence is one of the most sensitive phases in a child’s life. During this period, children undergo physical, mental, and emotional changes that they often struggle to understand themselves. At such a time, the role of parents and teachers becomes extremely important.

She further explained that social media, reels, and digital platforms are deeply influencing the minds of teenagers today. Children constantly compare themselves with others and begin worrying about questions such as “How do I look?” and “What do people think about me?” which can gradually lead to mental stress. Dr. Gupta urged parents to provide children with opportunities to express their emotions openly and to listen to them patiently.

The seminar also highlighted that if children begin distancing themselves from their families, parents should respond with sensitivity and understanding rather than panic. Along with giving children appropriate independence, emotional support is equally essential.

Seminar Provided Valuable Guidance to Students and Teachers

Providing detailed information about the program, Rtn. Nitin Jain, District Chairman Media, stated that the seminar was jointly organized by Rotary Club of Jabalpur Sanskardhani along with all Rotary Clubs of Jabalpur.
